Knox College seeks candidates for Principal

Knox College is a college of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, in the heart of the main campus of the University of Toronto. Knox educates women and men for faithful and creative Christian ministries and scholarship through our teaching, research, and global partnerships.

For over 170 years Knox College has had a profound effect on The Presbyterian Church in Canada and spiritual life in Canada and abroad. Knox students are effective, caring, and creative Christian leaders and ministers. Our graduates and professors are leaders in the fields of theology, Bible, practical ministry, and church history. Now, with the boldness of our founders, we are committed to developing leaders for our multi-faceted, multicultural world – leaders whose Christian ministries are engaged, dynamic, faithful, cross-cultural, ethical, bold, creative, impactful, and compassionate.


The Role

The Principal’s role is to provide theological vision and academic, pastoral, and institutional leadership to Knox College, with a view to creating a community grounded in faith, scholarship, formation, and practice. He/She is accountable for providing effective stewardship of the resources and assets of the College and for fund-raising to increase these resources. He/She must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills in order to foster effective relationships within the diversity of the Knox community and with partnerships, both locally and globally. Reporting to the Board of Governors, the Principal works within board-approved plans, budgets, policies, and procedures. The position requires a high degree of organizational skills, a mastery of time management, and a sense of perspective that encourages personal initiative and self-discipline.

The Principal is a Christian leader, scholar, and a minister in the Reformed tradition, with the gifts to encourage, persuade, and uplift. The Principal is required to be ordained as a minister of Word and Sacrament in the PCC, or agree to become such expeditiously.
