Talking to God: a workshop on worship
Knox College presents “Talking to God: a workshop on worship” by Dr. Ian Wishart on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, 1 – 4 pm.
Dr. Wishart will introduce his book, COMMON ORDER: A Canadian Book of Services of Worship. This book is a rich resource for those conducting public worship, both ministers and laity. It contains prayers from around the world, and from the past and from the present. The book will be available for purchase at the workshop for $10.
A native of Toronto, Ian Wishart was educated at universities in Toronto, Edinburgh, and Goettingen (Germany). He has Master of Theology and Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) degrees from Knox College. He served as minister of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, St. John’s, Newfoundland, from 1972 to 1998. He also chaired the Committee on Church Doctrine during the time Living Faith: A Statement of Christian Belief was adopted by the General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Parts of this document form the basis for some liturgies and prayers in COMMON ORDER.
The workshop is free; all are welcome. Register by March 31 by completing the form below, or by contacting Helen at 416-978-6228. The workshop will also be broadcast live via Knox’s YouTube channel (and available to watch after the workshop).
