Knox College welcomes Stephen Farris as Visiting Professor of Preaching
Principal John Vissers is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Stephen Farris has been appointed Visiting Professor of Preaching effective July 1, 2018.
Dr. Farris retired in 2016 as Dean of St. Andrew’s Hall and Professor of Homiletics at the Vancouver School of Theology. Stephen is the author of several books and many articles on preaching, theology, and biblical studies, including Preaching That Matters: The Bible and Our Lives. He is married to Patty, a retired school principal, and has two sons and two grandchildren.
Dr. Farris returns to Knox College where he served as Professor of Preaching and Worship from 1986 to 2003. In his role as Visiting Professor of Preaching, Dr. Farris will teach and supervise students in the graduate degree programs (M.A., Th.M., D.Min., and Ph.D.) at Knox College and the Toronto School of Theology. In Fall 2018 he is offering a course called “Preaching Luke-Acts.”
Dr. Farris joins Dr. Sarah Travis and Dr. Emily Bisset, who teach preaching at Knox College, and Past Principal J. Dorcas Gordon, who now serves as Interim Director of the Toronto School of Theology and continues to advise and supervise graduate students.
