Prayer for peace
A message from Principal van Eck
In reaction to violence in the Holy Land the past week, and in all other places in the world where there is no peace, human rights, and justice, we share the following prayer for peace:
Divine Creator,
In this moment of deep sorrow and anguish, we come before you, acknowledging the pain and suffering that engulfs our world. We lift our hearts in prayer, embracing the shared humanity that unites us all.
We pray for the land that is Holy to many, a land torn apart by violence and discord. We pray for every corner of the world where peace seems like a distant dream, where the rights of the people are trampled, and justice is a rare commodity.
Grant us the strength to see beyond our differences, to recognize the inherent dignity in every human being. Guide us towards empathy, understanding, and forgiveness. Help us to bridge the gaps that divide us, replacing hatred with love, ignorance with wisdom, and despair with hope.
May your divine light illuminate the hearts of leaders and individuals alike, inspiring them to pursue peace with unwavering determination. Shower compassion upon those who are hurt and broken and instill in us the courage to stand up for justice, without perpetuating more hatred.
We pray for the wisdom to learn from the past, the patience to endure the present, and the faith to believe in a future where peace prevails. Let your peace, which transcends all understanding, settle upon our troubled hearts and troubled lands.
In your mercy, hear our prayer and guide us towards a world where all your children can live together in harmony, respecting one another’s differences, and embracing the beauty of diversity.
Amen.
