Rev. Joseph (Joe) Riddell passes away; Knox College expresses condolences
The Rev. Joseph (Joe) Riddell passed away May 29, 2025, He was a 1968 Master of Divinity graduate of Knox College.

Rev. Joseph (Joe) Riddell beloved husband of Patricia (Pat) Riddell (nee Rivett) of Calgary, AB, died on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the age of 83 years.
Joe was born in Guelph, ON, on October 23, 1941. He graduated from Knox College – Presbyterian Church in Canada with a Bachelor of Divinity; and served as minister of six churches across Canada, and another four churches as interim moderator after retirement. Throughout his service, Joe ministered to his people at the direction of the Lord who said to “feed his sheep.”
He lived out his ordination as a teaching elder by educating and guiding his congregation in the Word of God and its significance for daily living. Joe enjoyed playing golf, bridge, skiing, camping, and reading. He will be most remembered for being a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a remarkably caring minister.

Besides his loving wife of fifty-six years, Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Erica Riddell; his daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Craig Hawkings; and grandchildren and their spouses, James and Evelien Riddell, Eric and Kaitlyn Riddell, Isabelle Hawkings, Thomas Riddell, Casey Hawkings, and Mackenzie Riddell. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Donald and Shirley Riddell of Orangeville, ON.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie Riddell (nee Lillie) and James Riddell.
The family would like to thank the congregation, staff, and ministers of Westminster Presbyterian Church for their friendship, care and witness of God’s love, and Dr. Simon Taylor, Dr. Larissa Irving, and the staff of Unit 46 Special Services Building at Foothills Hospital for their expertise, care, and support.
Funeral Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church (290 Edgepark Boulevard N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
