Former Knox Board member appointed Order of Canada member

Congratulations to Dr. Alexandra (Sandy) Johnston! On December 27, 2018, her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, announced 103 new appointments to the Order of Canada, including Dr. Alexandra (Sandy) Johnston. Dr. Johnston (M.A., Ph.D., L.L.D., D.D., DHL, FRSC) served as a Knox College Board member from 2007 to 2013, among many other contributions to The Presbyterian Church in Canada and to academia.

Created in 1967, the Order of Canada “honours people whose service shapes our society; whose innovations ignite our imaginations; and whose compassion unites our communities.” Dr. Johnston was nominated for her scholarly contributions to the humanities, notably in early drama studies.
