This gathering continues a little-known but remarkable Toronto tradition. In 1919, the Rev. John Linton led a service called “Soccer Sunday – working towards the goal”. The church was filled, the congregation vibrant, and the event captured wide public attention. A few years later, the tradition was revived again in Montreal to similar acclaim.
