The Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Miles passes away; Knox College expresses condolences
The Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Miles passed away May 29, 2025, He was a 1953 Master of Divinity graduate of Knox College and a 1989 Honorary Doctor of Divinity Recipient. In 2023, Knox College awarded him a certificate to commemorate his 70th year of service in ministry.

It is with deep sadness that we announce Bruce’s death on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in his 96th year.
Bruce was born June 17, 1929, in Toronto, Ontario to Ralph Miles and Jessie McRae.
In 1953, he graduated from Knox College in Toronto as a Presbyterian Minister. At college, he was Captain of the Varsity Blues; the intercollegiate football team.
Upon Ordination, he was appointed to a small church in Oshawa, Ontario.
After 10 years in Oshawa and Listowel, Ontario, he was called to First Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg where he served for 26 years. While there, he wrote and spoke a daily radio programme, “Moments of Meditation”, for 29 years.
Bruce was a member of the downtown Rotary Club; the Club that Rotary international for almost 25 years.
He was elected Moderator of the High Court of the Church, the General Assembly in 1988. As such, he travelled from coast to coast in Canada and represented the Church in a short tour of Southern Africa.
Bruce was the recipient of two honourary degrees (Doctor of Divinity).
He worked for many years with Alcoholics Anonymous in the 12 Step Program and was invited to speak on the 5th Step at the AA International Convention in Denver, Colorado.
He is the father of four grown children, grandfather of nine and great grandfather of four and has been married for the past thirty-four years to his partner and soul mate Jody.
Bruce enjoyed golf, curling, gardening and cycling and was ardent fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Bruce touched the lives and hearts of all those who knew him. He will be forever missed.
