William James Adamson passes away; Knox College expresses condolences
Knox College is sad to announce the death of the Rev. Dr. William James Adamson on August 29, 2020. Dr. Adamson graduated from Knox College in 1948, and he received a Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) degree from Knox College in 1978 for his faithful service. In 1950 he helped to establish St. Giles (later St. Giles Kingsway) Presbyterian Church in Etobicoke, where he ministered for 40 years.
Stuart Macdonald, Vice Principal and Academic Dean of Knox College, said, “I had the incredible privilege of working with Dr. Adamson for two years while a student at Knox College, and I was honoured when he delivered the charge at my ordination. My ministry was and continues to be shaped by that charge, including his direction to never assume a false piety but to live authentically as one of Christ’s disciples. Bill Adamson was always a source of wisdom, inspiration, and support. I am deeply grateful to God for his life and ministry.”
Principal John Vissers said, “Knox College has lost one of its greatest graduates and friends. We express our condolences to Brenda and the family.”
