The Rev. Dr. Glenn McCullough releases new book
Congratulations to The Rev. Dr. Glenn McCullough, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology and Spiritual Care at Knox College and Emmanuel College, on the publication of his new book: Jacob Boehme and the Spiritual Roots of Psychotherapy: Dreams, Ecstasy, and Wisdom (Brill, 2025).
In this new publication, McCullough contends that mystical writer Jacob Boehme (1574-1624) is the source of one of modernity’s most influential movements: psychotherapy.
While Boehme has often been dismissed as an esoteric outsider, McCullough’s work locates him within the mainstream Western theological tradition of Augustine. McCullough also argues that Boehme furnishes the wider spiritual context for the pioneering therapeutic concepts of both Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, including their understanding of the unconscious mind and its remarkable potentials.
Jacob Boehme and the Spiritual Roots of Psychotherapy is part of our print collection at Caven Library. Learn more and browse all our latest books and e-Books here: https://buff.ly/lA4kQi4
