Housing & Residence

Knox College is not only home for the theological students of Knox, but also for graduate and undergraduate students of the University of Toronto.

About the Residence

The residence is co – educational, with genders segregated by floor. Security conscious, it is a locked residence. There is a laundry room, a games/pool room and a television room, as well as two common rooms, the largest of which is used for study, floor meetings and small parties.

The majority of rooms are single occupancy.  All are furnished with a bed, chest of drawers, desk and bookcase. Bedding is provided and the rooms are cleaned once a week. Each room has a closet or an armoire. Washrooms are shared with approximately eight other persons on the floor.

Each room is equipped with a telephone and cable jack. Students are responsible for activating each service. All rooms have wiring for small appliances, such as a computer, small refrigerator and/or electric kettle.

All students are required to enroll in the College’s meal plan. However, a microwave and a refrigerator are located in the 3rd floor common room and the television room. Smoking is forbidden anywhere within the building.

The College Library Reading Room, open various hours throughout the week,  available to residents. In addition, Christian worship service is held in the College’s Chapel every Tuesday at 4:10p.m. and Wednesday at 8:30a.m.  for the theological and residence community.

Summer Residence
The residence is open from mid May to mid August for students and non-students.

Academic Year Residence
The residence caters primarily to graduate students.  To be eligible for residence you must be registered as a full-time student. The residence contract begins Labour Day week-end and ends the beginning of May. All residents participate in the College’s meal plan.

Theological Commuter Students
There are a limited number of commuter rooms available for Knox College Theological Students. These rooms may be rented on a nightly basis.

Guest Rooms
A limited number of guests rooms are available to the public for a short-term stay. These rooms are usually available on the week-ends.

Family Housing

Apartment-style housing options are available through UofT housing to allow for families to stay together while studying at Knox. Visit their  Student Family Housing Web site.
